Shruti Mehta
Kathiwada, Madhya Pradesh
Shruti recently completed her MPhil in Education Leadership and School Improvement from The University of Cambridge. Prior to commencing her studies, she was with Teach for India, as a teaching fellow and as a program manager. She believes strongly in student voice and in challenging the traditional passive role that students have been assigned in education for decades. She hopes to derive scalable practices through her work that can be implemented in various schools to encourage students to take a more active role in their education.
Shruti envisions redesigning the teacher-centric school models by creating a reimagined K-12 school in Kathiwada which uses the pedagogy of play and dialogue to transform the role that young people take in school. This school is being set up in partnership with the Kathiwada Foundation in their home state.
