Rigzen Wangmo

Nubra Valley, Ladakh

Rigzen Wangmo, the founder of the Village Lab Foundation in Nubra Valley, Leh Ladakh, is an educator dedicated to transforming village education in remote villages in Ladakh. A Harvard M.Ed graduate specializing in Teaching and Teacher Leadership founded the Ladakh Literacy Society to promote reading and learning in Ladakh. As the first Teach For India Fellow from Ladakh, she served in Pune and later worked as a Academic Director at the SECMOL alternative school.

The Village Lab Foundation, Ladakh (VLF) is an after-school program dedicated to strengthening Ladakh's village education through an innovative intergenerational model. By harnessing the wisdom and resources of Ladakhi communities, they aim to transform villages into dynamic learning labs where villagers serve as facilitators. Their approach fosters democratic, experiential learning spaces that inspire children to find joy in learning.
